Learn the sections
Palm Coast was planned in lettered “sections,” and most streets in a section start with the same letter, like the B Section in Indian Trails or the W Section in Pine Lakes. Once you know your section letter, directions get much easier. Our Palm Coast page covers the main neighborhoods.
Check the HOA or community rules first
Many Palm Coast neighborhoods have HOAs, and the gated communities on the Intracoastal and the Hammock have gate procedures. Before move day, ask about truck parking, allowed move hours and whether movers must send a certificate of insurance. Send them to your mover early.
Moving into a new build
A lot of Palm Coast and Bunnell homes are new construction on infill lots, and closing dates often slip. Book your move with your target date and stay in touch. Ask the builder when the driveway and sod will be finished so the truck doesn’t damage them.
Beach, mainland or the Hammock?
- Mainland Palm Coast: single-family homes, easy truck access in most sections.
- The Hammock (barrier island): reached by the Hammock Dunes toll bridge from Palm Coast Pkwy, or by SR 100 and A1A through Flagler Beach.
- Flagler Beach: a small, low-rise beach town with raised homes and stairs. See our Flagler Beach page.
- Bunnell: the county seat, with new subdivisions and rural land. See our Bunnell page.
Florida paperwork for new residents
- Driver license: Florida asks new residents to get a Florida license within 30 days. Check the Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) website for current rules and vehicle registration.
- Homestead exemption: if you buy a home you live in, you may qualify for a homestead exemption on property taxes. Apply through the Flagler County Property Appraiser. The deadline is March 1.
- Voter registration and address changes: update with the Supervisor of Elections and the post office.
- Hurricane plan: look up your evacuation zone with Flagler County Emergency Management, and read our hurricane-season moving tips.
Hire a Florida-registered mover
Florida requires household movers to register with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) and to give you a written estimate. You can look up any mover’s registration on the FDACS website. Ours is Fla. Mover Reg. No. IM2982.
